dsh-side-chat is a web-client UI plugin for DeepSeek Harness that opens a focused child conversation from text selected in a completed message while keeping the main conversation visible.

Key Capabilities

Adds selection actions to completed user and assistant messages.
Opens a focused Side Chat for follow-up questions about selected text.
Creates a real DSH Session fork with the selected message as its fork point.
Lets users attach one or more selected passages and optional comments to the main composer.
Provides independent Side Chat model and reasoning-effort selection.
Renders assistant replies with DSH native Markdown rendering.
Stops active work and archives the child Session when the panel closes.

Documented Limitations

Targets @deepseek-ai/[email protected] exactly.
Selections must remain within one completed message.
Attachments and the /side command are not supported.
Closed Side Chats cannot be reopened from the panel.
There is no automatic history cleanup or “keep as normal chat” action.
Side Chat shares the parent workspace; file changes, commands, and other tool side effects are real and are not reverted on close.
Archived child sessions may briefly appear in normal Session lists.
